About the Memorial

Here's how you can donate to the Veteran's Memorial Learn how you can help build the Veteran's Memorial Why do we need a memorial?
The eight-sided pylon at the center of the memorial extends the basic octagon design across the entire mall areas, honoring the past and present service of all branches of the Armed Forces as well as Police and Firefighters. Thus emblems of all the military and domestic services are prominently displayed.

In keeping with the memorial theme, three flags – American flag, POW/MIA flag, and  Indiana State flag – offer symbolic witness to the scope and depth of our continuing gratitude.

Two concentric malls are designed to accommodate two-way traffic with seating between the two malls allows visitors to face either the pylon at the center of the inner mall or personalized memorial pavers bordering the outer mall. Three sizes of pavers are available for personalized sponsorship.

The inner and outer malls are barrier free to allow room for wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, and strolling visitors to pass comfortably.
The Veterans Memorial is situated prominently at the entrance of Freedom Park. It is
maintained and cared for by local veterans organizations. The landscape and grounds are maintained by the Greenwood Parks Department.
